Don Holvoet passed away unexepectedly on January 23, 2023 at the age of 72. He was the loving husband of Nancy Sedgwick Holvoet, and loving father of two sons, William and Michael. He was the son of Claire and Victor Holvoet and a native of San Francisco. He was the brother of Craig Holvoet, uncle to Candace Holvoet, and cousins, Pam Driesser, Donna Delucchi, Ronnie and Dori Mafrici, sister-in-law to Judy Sedgwick and numerous cousins. Don attended Woodrow Wilson High School and graduated from Skyline College. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1969 and proudly served on the USS Columbus, he was Honorably Discharged in 1972. A few years later he became a San Francisco Fireman. Don retired from SFFD in 2010 after 31 years of service, he spent the majority of his career at Station 10. He loved being a fireman and thought it was the greatest career anyone could ever have.

He met his wife, Nancy in 1977 and they were married in 1984 sharing almost 39 years of marriage. Within thirteen months their first son, William was born and just over two years later their second son, Michael, was born. As their family grew, they moved to Sonoma and eventually to Santa Rosa where they spent the last 31 years. He loved his family more than anything, as he watched his sons grow, he coached them in basketball and baseball, and was proud of the young men they had become. He was a great dad and husband. Don was bigger than life and had a generous heart. He will be missed by all who knew him.

All are invited to attend Mass at Holy Spirit Church (1244 St. Francis Road, Santa Rosa) on February 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wounded Warriors.
