Though most players commit to schools during the earlysigning period in December, many others signed Wednesday, the official national signing day. Cal and head coach Justin Wilcox added three players, most notably Marquis Montgomery, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound wide receiver from Snow College in Utah.

Stanford and head coach Troy Taylor received commitments from six players, with two offensive linemen transferring from Ivy League schools — Alec Bank (Harvard) and Trevor Mayberry (Penn) — considered key. Each lineman has two years of eligibilty remaining.

San Jose State and head coach Brent Brennan added seven players, including two from the East Bay whose fathers had strong football careers: quarterback Jay Butterfield, a LibertyBrentwood alum who spent three seasons at Oregon and whose father, Mark, was a Stanford QB in the 1990s; and linebacker Kade Millard from Foothill-Pleasanton.
