Oakley police have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of killing a teenager and injuring three others in a shooting at a house party.

Jason Walizada of Antioch was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, four days after he allegedly shot four teenagers attending the house party in Oakley and fled, Police Chief Paul Beard said in a statement. One of those teenagers, a 16-year-old boy, died from his injuries, while three others — a 17year-old girl, 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy — were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has identified the teen who was killed as Ke’Marion Tucker, 16, of Brentwood, the Mercury News reported.

Walizada was arrested in Antioch in a joint effort by Oakley police and the U.S. Marshals Service, Beard said. Jail records show he was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $1.15 million bail. A court date has not been set.

Beard said the house party shooting had been the “top priority of the Oakley Police Department since it occurred.” Officers spoke to dozens of witnesses and reviewed several videos of the night of the shooting to lead to the arrest, he said.

After the shooting, rumors circulated on social media that there could be additional violence at Freedom High School in Oakley, according to Beard. More than 1,000 students walked off campus out of fear, Beard told KGO-TV, though he said the rumors were ultimately unfounded.

Though Walizada is now in custody, Beard said he was not “the sole focus of our investigation” and that investigators continue to pursue other leads.

“This case has absolutely shattered the lives of family, friends and loved ones of the victims in this case, especially the deceased child,” Beard said. “I am hoping we will see full measures of accountability achieved in this case.”
