-

Kathy O’Loughlin was born in San Francisco on May 4, 1954 to John and Thomasine O’Loughlin (both deceased) and she passed away on October 12, 2023. She is survived by her sister Terry O’Loughlin and her brother-in-law Jay Helms.

Kathy attended St. Cecilia Elementary School and St. Rose Academy. She received a BS from UC Berkeley, where she graduated first in her class in the College of Natural Resources.

Kathy pursued a variety of interests during her career. She was most proud of her four years at a business consulting firm where she was a District Manager and her seventeen years as a financial planner at Lincoln Financial Advisors.

Kathy was known for her love of animals, especially her love of dogs. Over the course of forty years, Kathy cared for five beloved dogs, including three Shelties, who gave her great joy and to whom she gave great lives.

Kathy loved nature, including hiking in the outdoors, and she knew the trails of Mt. Tamalpais well. Kathy particularly loved flowers. As a native San Franciscan, she took full advantage of the flowerrelated activities her city had to offer. Kathy was a docent at the Conservatory of Flowers, and she so enjoyed Bouquets to Art from its very beginning and Flower Piano more recently.

Kathy loved to read and she volunteered in literacy programs for children and adults.

Kathy tried to help people and to build community. In recent years, she found the opportunity to do so and a community of her own at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, where she was particularly active in gardening and animal-related events.

Rest in peace, Kathy. We will always miss you.

A service honoring and celebrating Kathy’s life will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, December 3, at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, 101 Gold Mine Drive, San Francisco. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s name to the San Francisco SPCA or to St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church.
