Harrie Cheim Kordelos

August 12, 1933 - October 12, 2023

-

It is with sadness that we announce Harrie Lea Cheim Kordelos’ passing on October 12, 2023 in San Francisco at the age of 90. Harrie spent her last peaceful moments surrounded by family- sharing stories, tears and laughter.

From true pioneer stock, Harrie’s ancestors were founders at Jamestown and her great great grandmother Levinia Murphy emigrated West with her children on the Donner Party. Throughout her rich life, Harrie possessed that same fighting determination to seek a better life and enjoy it.

Born in San Francisco on Aug 12 1933, she was raised in Marysville California by parents Harry Joseph Cheim and Leah Bryden Murphy Cheim and was sister to Heiman. A graduate of both Castilleja High School and Mills College, Harrie spent the majority of her adult life in San Francisco as a bright and vibrant woman whose generosity, humor and personality attracted many close friends. With former husband Richard Kordelos, she raised her three children and was a proud grandmother. Harrie loved restaurants, Julia Child,

PBS, world travel, the Arts, education and, well, more restaurants. Over the years she worked as a lab technician, a botanist, at Berkeley Farms and as a travel agent at the Fairmont Hotel. But it was in motherhood that Harrie truly thrived and excelled.

She now joins beloved daughter, Adrianne, parents and grandparents and all dear friends who’ve passed. She is survived by; brother, Heiman Cheim and family, her sons; Marc (wife Kristen) and Jason and her grandson Jordan Paculba and the many family and friends who grieve this loss but celebrate too, having known Harrie. Or as she might prefer, Ha-aree!
