A glimmer of hope that the upscale North Beach bistro Park Tavern could remain in the neighborhood after it was served with an eviction notice has faded, as the restaurant’s home of more than a decade became available for leasing this week.

The roughly 8,000square-foot commercial condo unit that’s housed Park Tavern at 1652 Stockton St. since 2011 has gone dark and as of Tuesday is being marketed as an “iconic San Francisco restaurant opportunity” by brokerage Maven Properties, where Catherine Meunier, Pamela Mendelsohn and Santino DeRose have the listing.

Despite early indications that Park Tavern’s owner, Anna Weinberg, and her landlord were in talks to squash an eviction proceeding that commenced in late October, the restaurant’s North Beach run has come to an end. A representative of the landlord of the 1652 Stockton property, listed in public records as North Beach Associates LLC, confirmed Tuesday that Park Tavern has officially vacated.

Weinberg declined to provide comment on the restaurant’s departure. Pandemic-induced closures have been a major challenge for San Francisco’s restaurants, and Park Tavern was no exception. Like Weinberg’s other restaurants, Leo’s Oyster Bar and the 101-year-old Tosca Cafe in North Beach, COVID-19 shuttered Park Tavern’s operations for most of 2020. Following a brief reopening, the restaurant was shuttered once again in 2021, this time due to renovations.

Earlier this year, in May, the popular restaurant finally reopened with a refreshed look and a new chef after it had been closed for a year and a half.

But according to an initial three-day eviction notice filed in October, Park Tavern allegedly owed more than $460,000 in rent.

The space overlooks Washington Square Park and features 4,828 square feet on the ground floor for dining as well as an additional 3,600-square-foot area for private dining, employee facilities, storage and office space, per a brochure shared with the Chronicle, which did not include the asking rent for the property.
