Ex-rock musician sought in Capitola woman’s disappearance
A Santa Cruz County woman has been reported missing and police are searching for her boyfriend, an ex-rock musician whom they are calling a “person of interest” in connection with her disappearance.
Capitola resident Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann, 61, has been missing since Dec. 3, when she was seen in Santa Cruz, the El Cerrito Police Department said Sunday. Hermann’s relatives reported her disappearance to police after not hearing from her for more than a week, the department said.
El Cerrito investigators located her car in front of the El Cerrito home of her boyfriend, Theobald “Theo” Brooks Lengyel, 54, police said.
Lengyel played saxophone, clarinet and keyboards in the rock group Mr. Bungle.
“Based on his actions, Theo Lengyel is a person of interest in Alice Herrmann’s disappearance and has not cooperated with the police investigation,” the department said.
In the days after Herrmann’s disappearance, Lengyel is believed to have traveled to Portland, Ore., the department said.
Investigators are working with detectives from the Capitola and Portland police departments to locate Lengyel and any evidence related to Herrmann, described in police alerts as a 5-foot, 4-inch Pacific Islander.
“Investigators are asking area residents who spend time in regional parks and open spaces to be on the lookout for anything suspicious that might lead to Alice’s whereabouts,” the department said.
