St. Mary’s routs Pacific to stay unbeaten in WCC play

STOCKTON, Calif. — Alex Ducas scored 18 points while shooting 7-for-9 from the floor and 4-for-4 from 3-point range as St. Mary’s won its 11th straight game by stomping Pacific 84-43.

Augustus Marciulion­is and reserve Luke Barrett scored 12, Mitchell Saxen added 11 and Mason Forbes had 10 off the bench for the Gaels (19-6, 10-0 WCC).

Ducas only shot once and failed to score in the Gaels’ 64-62 win over Gonzaga on Saturday night.

On Tuesday, Ducas started St. Mary’s off with a 3-pointer 17 seconds in, and the Gaels never trailed the rest of the way.

Barrett’s 3 broke a tie at 7 with 11:05 before halftime, and his 3 six minutes later stretched the advantage to 23-9.

St. Mary’s 37-19 lead over Pacific at halftime marked the 11th time this season the Gaels have led by 15 or more points at intermissi­on, a mark that leads the nation.

Reserve Jalen Brown and Cam Denson led the Tigers with 11 points apiece.

St. Mary’s next travels to Portland to face the Pilots on Saturday.

The Tigers (6-19, 0-10) will host San Diego on Saturday.

FRESNO STATE 69 SAN JOSE STATE 57

Xavier Dusell scored 23 points and Enoch Boakye recorded a double-double as the Bulldogs handed the host Spartans their sixth loss in a row.

Dusell shot 7-for-13 from the floor (6-for-10 from 3-point range) and made three of his four attempts from the freethrow line for Fresno State (1013, 3-7 Mountain West Conference).

Boakye scored 14 points while shooting 6-for-11 overall and grabbed 14 rebounds. Jalen Weaver added 10 points.

Alvaro Cardenas finished with 12 points for San Jose State (8-15, 1-9) and Trey Anderson added 11 points.

Fresno State’s next game is Saturday against Air Force on the road.

San Jose State is slated to visit Colorado State on Friday.
