Three people killed last week in an early morning crash on the Bay Bridge were Alameda County residents, the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s office announced Thursday.

The fatal crash unfolded Feb. 15 on the bridge’s lower level shortly before 4:30 a.m. when the driver of a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck rearended a red Mini Cooper that was stopped in the fourth lane just before the tunnel, officials said.

The three victims were Sean Luttjohann, 59, Lorissa Weller, 38, and Bim Thorpe, 29, medical examiners said.

Luttjohann was identified as the owner of a computer services company on a LinkedIn account under his name. Weller and Thorpe were both employed at a Starbucks in Dublin, according to Starbucks spokesperson Sam Jefferies, who said the company is “devastated by the loss.”

California Highway Patrol officers attempted to revive the driver of the Mini Cooper, who was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. A passenger who had been sitting in the back seat was also pronounced dead at the scene.

A third passenger was rushed to San Francisco General for treatment of serious injuries, where they later died, according to the CHP.

The driver of the pickup truck was hospitalized with moderate injuries but survived, according to San Francisco Fire Lt. Mariano Elias.

It was unclear what caused the Mini Cooper to stop.

The crash marked the second fatal crash in two months caused by a person stopping on the Bay Bridge.

One person died and two people were arrested in January after the driver of a Mercedes SUV came to a halt while driving east near Treasure Island.
