Stanford men stumble against Oregon for third straight loss

Men

Oregon 78, Stanford 65: The host Cardinal (12-14, 7-9 Pac-12) missed a shot at evening their season record, losing their third straight in a game in which the Ducks led by as many as 17. Oregon (18-8, 10-5) is in third place in the Pac-12, a game behind No. 4 Arizona after No. 21 Washington State pulled off a 77-74 upset of the Wildcats in Tucson on Thursday night to take sole possession of first place with a 12-4 record (21-6 overall). Brandon Angel led Stanford with 21 points.Santa Clara 65, Loyola Marymount 55: The host Broncos’ second-half surge delivered a comeback win powered by Johnny O’Neil and Brenton Knapper scoring 15 points apiece to keep Santa Clara (18-10, 9-4 WCC) within range of Gonzaga (11-2) and USF (10-3) among the teams chasing conference-leading St. Mary’s (13-0).

Women

No. 16 Gonzaga 74, USF 48: The WCC-leading Bulldogs routed the visiting Dons. Gonzaga (27-2, 14-0) led by 16 at halftime, and extended its win streak to 21 (as well as 33 straight wins at home). USF fell to 11-15, 7-6.

Santa Clara 66, San Diego 57: The visiting Broncos (22-7, 10-4) extended their winning streak to seven while moving into second place in the WCC as Tess Heal scored 30 points on 11-for-19 shooting, chipping in eight rebounds.

St. Mary’s 70, Loyola Marymount 66: Guard Tayla Dalton scored 27 points and forward Ali Bamberger contribute­d 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists to raise the visiting Gaels to 12-15 (5-8 WCC).
