McCarron scores pair to lead rout of Sharks
Michael McCarron scored two goals, Roman Josi and Filip Forsberg each had a goal and two assists and the Nashville Predators beat the San Jose Sharks 8-2 on Tuesday night in Nashville, Tenn., extending the team’s point streak to a franchise record-tying 15 games.
Jason Zucker, Luke Evangelista, Mark Jankowski and Tommy Novak also scored and Juuse Saros made 18 saves for Nashville.
Mario Ferraro had a goal and an assist, Mikael Granlund also scored and Magnus Chrona made 32 saves for San Jose, 1-12-2 over its last 15.
In other NHL news, longtime enforcer Chris Simon died Monday night in his hometown of Wawa, Ontario, a spokesperson for the NHL Players’ Association said Tuesday. The 52-year-old Simon, who spent 15 seasons in the NHL, died by suicide, his family said Wednesday.
NFL: The league’s competition committee is proposing a rule to penalize so-called “hip-drop” tackles and a radical change to kickoffs to add more returns without compromising safety. The proposals will be presented to owners at the league meetings later this month, with 24 out of 32 votes needed for approval . ... Lions defensive back Cameron Sutton is wanted on a domestic violence warrant in Florida. The warrant is for domestic battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Soccer: A Brazilian high court ruled Wednesday that former soccer star Robinho must serve his nine-year prison sentence in his home nation as a result of his 2017 rape conviction in Italy. The 40-year-old Robinho can appeal to the Brazil’s Supreme Court.
