G-Eazy, the multiplatinum-selling East Bay rapper, has released his first new song in over a year.

Titled “Femme Fatale,” the high-energy single features female rap sensations Coi Leray and Kaliii. G-Eazy debuted the track on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” with his collaborators on Thursday, April 4.

“In ‘Femme Fatale,’ I really wanted to create a track that showcased two strong female voices from a unique perspective,” G-Eazy said in a statement. “This song is really about empowerment and sex positivity.”

G-Eazy, whose real name is Gerald Earl Gillum, has largely stayed out of the spotlight since the death of his mother, Suzanne Olmsted, in November 2021. That was the same year he released his last album, “These Things Happen Too.”

His previous single, “Tulips & Roses,” which samples “Blame” by R&B trio Gabriels, dropped in March 2023 as a follow-up to the tribute track “Angel,” released a year earlier in honor of Olmsted.

The lyric video “Femme Fatale,” which is built around a sample of the Caribbean reggae funk group 20th Century Steel Band’s song “Heaven and Hell Is on Earth,” features a projection of G-Eazy’s face, adorned in Alice Cooper makeup, onto a nude woman’s torso.

In a recent interview with Spin magazine, G-Eazy credited his upbringing in the Bay Area as the inspiration for the new single.

“Raised by my mom and grandmothers, and experiencing all of the eclectic colors of culture that the Bay Area has to offer,” he said. “And I was inspired and influenced by a wide range of things growing up, exposed to a lot of diversity. And I think good music that explores confidence and empowerment and positivity can bring people of all walks of life together. And that’s a beautiful thing.”
