Golden Gate Park concert sells out in 90 minutes
The first-ever nighttime concert at Golden Gate Park, featuring System of a Down and Deftones, sold out its tickets in just 90 minutes.
Another Planet Entertainment, the company behind the annual Outside Lands festival in the park, announced that all 50,000 tickets for the new series were gone by 11:35 a.m. on Friday, April 12. The general ticket sale started at 10 a.m., following presale events for artists and the promoter. Ticket prices were $169 for general admission and $399 for VIP access.
“We can’t wait to see all 50k of you on Saturday, August 17 at the Polo Field!” Another Planet Entertainment said in a social media post.
The concert, set to take place in the park the weekend after this year’s Outside Lands, will feature performances by heavy
rock acts including System of a Down, Deftones, the Mars Volta, Viagra Boys and Vowws.
Another Planet Entertainment, headquartered in Berkeley, plans to host these concerts annually on the weekend following Outside Lands, using the festival’s existing infrastructure.
The San Francisco concert will be the only live appearance in 2024 for the Grammy-winning Armenian American rock act, System of a Down, aside from their sold-out festival in Las Vegas on April 27. It will also be the largest Bay Area concert for Sacramento’s alternative metal band, Deftones.
Unlike Outside Lands, the single-day show will focus on one stage with a main headliner and several supporting acts. Attendance will be limited to 50,000 people, compared to Outside Lands’ 75,000 attendees per day. Additionally, the concert producers will provide free Muni transportation to and from the park.
Last week, early bird tickets for this summer’s Outside Lands sold out within an hour, with VIP passes disappearing “almost instantly,” according to Another Planet Entertainment.
