⏩ Lions at 49ers, 1 p.m. 2t: Garoppolo taking more risks.
Where: Levi’s Stadium When: 1:05 p.m.
TV/Radio: 2t/680, 1050, 107.7
Spotlight on: DL Arik Armstead and Solomon Thomas. In passing situations in Week 1, the 49ers tabbed DeForest Buckner and Armstead (not Solomon Thomas) to serve as their inside pass-rushers. As a result, Thomas played 35 of 71 snaps, primarily on base downs, while Armstead logged 59 plays. How can Thomas get out of a part-time role? “If we’re talking about third-down pass rush, he’s got to be one of the best (players) on a consistent basis,” defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said. “And he’s gotten a lot better. We get into a groove of a game, we envision Solly getting out there just as much as Arik does.”
Injuries: 49ers — WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) is out; RG Mike Person (foot), S Adrian Colbert (hamstring) and ILB Malcolm Smith (hamstring) are questionable. Lions — DE Ezekiel Ansah (shoulder) and RB LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) are questionable.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
⏩ The Lions haven’t had a 100-yard rusher in 69 straight games, which matches the Browns (1988-93) for the longest streak since the NFLAFL merger in 1970. The last: Reggie Bush rushed for 117 yards on Nov. 28, 2013. ⏩ Robbie Gould is one field goal away from tying Phil Dawson’s franchise record for consecutive kicks made (27). Gould’s last miss was on Oct. 29, when his 27-yard attempt was blocked in a loss at Philadelphia. ⏩ Including playoffs, the 49ers have won 12 straight home games against the Lions. Detroit’s last road win against the 49ers was a 28-17 victory on Nov. 2, 1975. Steve Spurrier and Norm Snead played QB for the 49ers.
