Manuel F. Martinez Jr. died peace­fully with his wife and fam­ily by his side on 10/28/18 in SSF, CA. He was 85 years old.

Manuel is sur­vived by his wife, Mar­garita (Cas­tro) Martinez, his chil­dren Dar­lina Field, Sylvia Me­d­ina, Cyn­thia Maf­fei, Roberto Martinez, and Ed­ward Martinez; his broth­ers Al­berto Martinez and Je­sus Martinez; and many beau­ti­ful grand­chil­dren, great-grand­chil­dren, nieces, and neph­ews.

He is pre­ceded in death by his par­ents Manuel Martinez and Maria (Fuentes) Martinez, his sons Manuel Martinez III and Sa­muel Martinez, and 4 broth­ers and 2 sis­ters.

Manny was born on Oc­to­ber 30, 1932 in El Paso, Texas. He was a proud grad­u­ate of Bowie High School in El Paso Class of 1951. He en­listed in the United States Ma­rine Corps, where he served from 1951-1953 with the 1st Ma­rine Divi­sion 5th Marines Reg­i­ment spend­ing 13 months and 1 day in the Korean war. He mar­ried his mid­dle school sweet­heart, Margie, in 1954 and resided in South San Fran­cisco. They raised their 6 chil­dren, who will for­ever re­mem­ber their fa­ther as a kind, hon­est and hard-work­ing gen­tle­man who pro­vided for them and en­cour­aged them to pur­sue their life goals.

His ca­reer with Ford Mo­tor Com­pany lasted three and a half decades, even­tu­ally re­tir­ing then re­turn­ing to work with Hertz Rental Car for sev­eral years. Manny was a proud mem­ber of the com­mu­nity hav­ing es­tab­lished many sin­cere friend­ships that lasted a life­time. He en­joyed fam­ily gath­er­ings, hol­i­day func­tions, and an­nual va­ca­tions that the fam­ily will for­ever cher­ish. He was a char­ter mem­ber of the 1st Ma­rine Divi­sion As­so­ci­a­tion, a ded­i­cated fan of the SF Gi­ants and a long­time sea­son ticket holder of the Forty Nin­ers. He was a mem­ber of the So­ciedad Mu­tu­al­ista Mex­i­cana de More­los com­mu­nity where he and Margie vol­un­teered for decades hav­ing served as pres­i­dent on their Board of Direc­tors.

A visita­tion is sched­uled for 11/5; 5:00-7:00pm; fol­lowed by a Vigil at 7pm at Gar­den Chapel, in SSF. A mass is sched­uled for 11/6 at 10am. at St. Veron­ica’s Church, in SSF. Com­mit­tal to fol­low at Golden Gate Na­tional Ceme­tery in San Bruno.
