John David Fiore
John Fiore, age 90, passed away peacefully in San Francisco on January 4, 2019.
John was the beloved husband for 48 years of the late Bruna Fiore, devoted father of Nina Fiore, loving grandfather of Melia Gee (Samson) and Jasmine Suguitan, proud greatgrandfather of Elliana Gee, dear father-in-law of Ted Suguitan and cherished friend of Norma Jean Grist, John Sant, Ed Turdici and Eleanor Dimaggio.
Native San Franciscan, John graduated from St. Peter’s Boys School, Class of 1946. He served in the National Guard and worked several jobs until he began his 35 1/2 year career with PG&E, first as a meter reader and then a credit and collections representative; retiring in 1988. In addition, John’s true passion was entertaining with the accordion. He studied music from the age of 7. He went on to work with many fellow musicians over the years as well as delight people at their parties and special events all over the City and State with his musical stylings.
John will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was a member of PG&E Retirees’ Club, Musicians Union Local #6 (over 70 years), San Francisco Accordion Club and Italian Catholic Federation, Branch #365.
The family would like to thank his doctors, especially Dr. Daniel Pound, and the staff at UCSF for their excellent care of John over the years. Also, thank you to Robin Finkelstein and the team at Coming Home Hospice for their compassionate care and support during John’s brief stay.
A Funeral Mass celebrating John’s life will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019, 10am at St. Paul’s Church, 221 Valley St., San Francisco. At John’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to St. Peter’s Catholic School, 1266 Florida Street, San Francisco, CA 94110.
