John David Fiore

John Fiore, age 90, passed away peace­fully in San Fran­cisco on Jan­uary 4, 2019.

John was the beloved hus­band for 48 years of the late Bruna Fiore, de­voted fa­ther of Nina Fiore, lov­ing grand­fa­ther of Melia Gee (Sam­son) and Jas­mine Su­gui­tan, proud great­grand­fa­ther of El­liana Gee, dear fa­ther-in-law of Ted Su­gui­tan and cher­ished friend of Norma Jean Grist, John Sant, Ed Tur­dici and Eleanor Dimag­gio.

Na­tive San Fran­cis­can, John grad­u­ated from St. Pe­ter’s Boys School, Class of 1946. He served in the Na­tional Guard and worked sev­eral jobs un­til he be­gan his 35 1/2 year ca­reer with PG&E, first as a meter reader and then a credit and col­lec­tions rep­re­sen­ta­tive; re­tir­ing in 1988. In ad­di­tion, John’s true pas­sion was en­ter­tain­ing with the ac­cor­dion. He stud­ied mu­sic from the age of 7. He went on to work with many fel­low mu­si­cians over the years as well as de­light people at their par­ties and special events all over the City and State with his mu­si­cal stylings.

John will be dearly missed by his fam­ily and friends. He was a mem­ber of PG&E Re­tirees’ Club, Mu­si­cians Union Lo­cal #6 (over 70 years), San Fran­cisco Ac­cor­dion Club and Ital­ian Catholic Fed­er­a­tion, Branch #365.

The fam­ily would like to thank his doc­tors, es­pe­cially Dr. Daniel Pound, and the staff at UCSF for their ex­cel­lent care of John over the years. Also, thank you to Robin Finkel­stein and the team at Com­ing Home Hospice for their com­pas­sion­ate care and support dur­ing John’s brief stay.

A Fu­neral Mass cel­e­brat­ing John’s life will be held Tues­day, Jan­uary 15, 2019, 10am at St. Paul’s Church, 221 Val­ley St., San Fran­cisco. At John’s re­quest, in lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions are ap­pre­ci­ated to St. Pe­ter’s Catholic School, 1266 Florida Street, San Fran­cisco, CA 94110.
