SC Water Department came though in emergency

I’d like to publicly thank the Santa Cruz City Water Department for the amazing work they do. Earlier this month, a water line broke on our property. I called the Water Department emergency line, and when the dispatcher told me that a technician would be at my house within 15 minutes, I have to admit I rolled my eyes in doubt. But sure enough, within 15 minutes, Erin arrived to save the day. She was amazingly calm, kind and competent, she explained exactly what was happening and what we would need to do to move forward with repairs.

A big thank you, not only to the Water Department, but to the legions of essential workers employed by government who keep our utilities working. It’s too easy to take “basics” like water or roads for granted, and to forget that there is a whole infrastructure in place to support us every single day.
