BEN LOMOND >> Due to street grinding and paving efforts by Caltrans, Highway 9 between Willowbrook Drive and Highlands County Park will be partially and fully closed beginning Monday.

Caltrans said that anyone traveling through the area should tack an extra 20 minutes onto their estimated arrival time for the next few days. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, motorists will need to adjust their route around the changes.

On Monday, drivers will find one-way reversing traffic control between Highlands

County Park and Coon Heights Road. Caltrans officials said the day of that those wishing to enter Highway 9 from Lower Glen Arbor Road will need to take a detour to Upper Glen Arbor Road.

On Tuesday, both directions of Highway 9 will be closed between Arboleda Way and Glen Arbor Road. This includes the southbound lane and two-way left-turn pocket from Lower Glen Arbor Road and Coon Heights Road; traffic will be rerouted through Glen Arbor Road. One-way reverse traffic control will support traffic from Lower Glen Arbor Road and Coon Heights Road.

On Wednesday, similar closures will slow drivers as Highway 9 will be closed between Arboleda Way and Lower Glen Arbor Road. Traffic will circuit through Glen Arbor Road where flagging personnel will be present at the intersection of Highway 9 and Lower Glen Abor Road to halt traffic when work trucks need to enter and exit the area. They will also work to ease traffic by keeping it moving through signal lights.

On Thursday, Highway 9 will be closed off to traffic between Arboleda Way and Lower Glen Arbor Road. This again includes the southbound lane and two-way left-turn pocket between Lower Glen Arbor

Road to near north of Willowbrook Drive. Traffic will progress through Glen Arbor Road as a substitute; one-way reverse traffic control between Lower Glen Arbor Road and Willowbrook Drive will be provided.

CHP will be working with Caltrans for safety purposes. In addition, messaging and signs have been installed to warn drivers ahead of time.

“All work is weather dependent and could be canceled with a one-day notice,” representatives said in a prepared statement. “Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.”
