D stin ran in Janes

We are heartbroke­n with the loss of Dustin Dusty Janes, a wonderful Husband, terrific Father, magnificen­t Grandfathe­r Opa, caring Brother, and great friend to many. Dusty was born in Taft, California to Ben F. and Nina Dustin Janes. His early years were spent in Santa Cruz, California where he roamed the open fields of the Cowell Ranch before it became C Santa Cruz Campus. During his teenage years his family moved to Southern California. He graduated from

SC in the class of 1958 and upon graduating, he was commission­ed as a 2nd Lieutenant in the S Marine Corps. After completing Basic School in uantico, Va. he returned to California to marry his childhood sweetheart, Jo Ann. Following three years of active military service Captain Janes embarked on a 30-year career as an Insurance Broker in Beverly Hills and West Los Angeles.

Dusty gave his family the love of “home place,” Santa Cruz. Many summer vacations were spent at the Janes Ranch in Swanton. When retirement came, Dusty and Jo Ann moved from Pacific Palisades to Portland, Oregon to be near two of their grandchild­ren. He will remain in our hearts forever especially the kind and loving manner that made him a delightful companion and friend.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Jo Ann, and their children Susan, Dustin Jennifer , Meg Steve and Ann Steven . His precious grandchild­ren Trevor, Ellie, Charles, and Hannah, loving Sister, Nancy Roland , brother-in-law Jon Tina and many nieces and nephews.

Committal services with full military honors were held at Willamette National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributi­ons may be made for the Marine Toys for tots Foundation or the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
