VFW event attracts chili lovers
The chili feed at Veterans of Foreign Wars post No. 7263 on Sept. 9 welcomed about 120 chili lovers to taste “hot” homemade chili made by four veteran groups.
The proceeds from this chili feed went toward VFW Post No. 1716 in Watsonville to support its membership program. Veterans helping veterans is what the VFW is about and it can't do it without your support.

• Marcelino Plaza, of Bonny Doon, in May earned a bachelor's degree in acoustical engineers from the University of Hartford in Hartford, Connecticut.
• Colette Friedley, of Watsonville, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2023 semester at Biola University in La Mirada.
• Landon Holtzclaw, of Aptos, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2023 semester at Biola University in La Mirada.

• Maria Baez-Suarez, of Watsonville, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2023 semester at Stanislaus State in Turlock.
• Melissa DuBray, of Boulder Creek, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2023 semester at Stanislaus State in Turlock.
• Brian Reyes, of Freedom, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2023 semester at Stanislaus State in Turlock.
• Palmyrah Romero, of Freedom, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2023 semester at Stanislaus State in Turlock.
• Patrick Sweeney, of Scotts Valley, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2023 semester at Stanislaus State in Turlock.
New Warriors
Stanislaus State welcomed more than 3,000 new Warriors for the fall 2023 semester. New students include first-time and transfer students who are enrolled in full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate programs.

Oaks, was welcomed as a new student for the fall 2023 semester at Stanislaus State with campuses in Turlock and Stockton.
• Nathan Pisciotta, of Santa Cruz, was welcomed as a new student for the fall 2023 semester at Stanislaus State with campuses in Turlock and Stockton.
