An employment contract for a new interim chief business officer is on the table for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees at its Wednesday meeting.

The agreement is for Kim Sims, who would be succeeding Clint Rucker. According to her LinkedIn page, Sims was the fiscal director of the San Luis

Obispo County Office of Education from 2003 to 2006 and the chief business officer for Guadalupe Union School District in Santa Barbara County from 2006 to 2017. For the past five years, she has been a school business official consultant.

“She has worked for both School Districts and County Offices of Education and brings a wealth of experience in Accounting, Payroll/Benefits, Finance and budget development and oversight,” district officials wrote on the agenda for Wednesday's meeting.

As chief business officer, Sims would be in charge of the district's business affairs and financial resources. She would have an annual salary of approximately $209,713 for hours worked not to exceed 719. She would also earn sick leave at a rate of one day per month, receive a monthly sum of $300 for the use of an automobile owned by her and used for regularly assigned duties within

Santa Cruz and Monterey counties and would have a cellphone allowance of $100 per month. Her term would begin Thursday and run through June 30, unless terminated earlier.

In other business, the board will consider an architecture agreement for the staff room modernization at Renaissance High School.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the district office boardroom, 292 Green Valley Road, Watsonville.
