1 6 p.m. on TCM Movie: Cinema’s Exiles: From Hitler to Hollywood
Sigourney Weaver narrates this fascinating 2009 documentary that chronicles how so many prominent Jewish filmmakers fled Hitler’s Germany to take refuge in Tinseltown that the movie capital earned the nickname “Weimar on the Pacific.” Among the American movie gems that eventually emerged from that artistic emigration out of Europe, which began in the late 1920s, was the Oscar-winning 1942 classic Casablanca, which immediately follows the TCM premiere tonight of this engrossing documentary.
2 7 p.m. on FOX Gotham
Professor Strange (guest star BD Wong) worries about Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) interest in Project Chimera, so he dispatches Galavan (James Frain) — who’s in a new, potentially dangerous condition — to deal with the police detective in the new episode “Wrath of the Villains: Azrael.” Someone else is curious about Strange, too, since Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) checks up on him.
3 8 p.m. on FOX Houdini & Doyle
Houdini is the iconic magician and Doyle the legendary novelist who created Sherlock Holmes in the premiere of an adventure-drama series that steers their talents to assist New Scotland Yard in solving crimes. Played by Michael Weston and Stephen Mangan, Harry Houdini and Arthur Conan Doyle aren’t the most comfortable partners, but they supply support to Constable Adelaide Stratton (Rebecca Liddiard) starting in “The Maggie’s Redress.” All three pictured above.
4 8 p.m. on AMC TURN: Washington’s Spies
In the new episode “Cold Murdering Bastards,” Anna (Heather Lind) desperately tries to save the spy ring after Abe’s (Jamie Bell) cover is blown. Faced with charges of treason, Benedict Arnold (Owain Yeoman) turns to George Washington (Ian Kahn) for support.
5 9 p.m. on ABC Castle
Characters are known to die during performances of Shakespeare plays, but not usually the actors playing them. That’s what happens in the new episode “Much Ado About Murder,” as Castle and Beckett (Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic) learn a lot about the theater world while trying to determine who killed the victim. Guest stars include Jewel Staite ( Firefly), with Julianna Dever — wife of series co-star Seamus Dever — back in her recurring role.
