Kentucky beats Texas

SOUTH WILLIAMSPO­RT, Pa. — Devin Obee gave up just three hits and struck out seven to help Bowling Green, Ky., beat San Antonio, Texas, 11-1 in five innings on Friday night in the Little League World Series.

Obee was also 2 for 3 with one RBI and scored three runs.

Carson Myers had a RBI single to center field to give Kentucky a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The next pitch rolled to the backstop, scoring John Guthrie and Isaiah Head singled to center to make it 3-0. Kentucky added two runs in the second.

SOUTH KOREA 3, CURACAO 0

Junho Jeong allowed just three hits and struck out 10 in four innings and South Korea beat Curacao on Friday night to improve to 12-0 all-time in the Little League World Series.

South Korea had the bases loaded with no outs in the first inning when Curacao starter Jurrangelo Cijntje switched from throwing left handed to using his right. He struck out the next two before hitting a batter to put South Korea in front 2-0.

IOWA 5, CALIFORNIA 1

Josh Larson and Michael Siemer combined for three scoreless innings of relief to help Johnston, Iowa, beat Chula Vista, Calif., 5-1 on Friday in the Little League World Series.

Siemer doubled off the wall in the third inning to score JT Garcia from first to tie it at 1-1. Iowa loaded the bases in the fourth and scored on a fielder’s choice and an errant throw for a 3-1 lead.

CANADA 10, JAPAN 4

Loreto Siniscalch­i struck out 13 in 5⅔ innings and Canada upset Tokyo, Japan, 10-4 on Friday to snap Japan’s 23-game opening round winning streak in the Little League World Series.

It was Japan’s first loss to open a LLWS since 1965.
