NEW SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS SWORN IN TUESDAY
Santa Fe Public Schools holds its next public board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the Educational Services Center, 610 Alta Vista St. New board member Kate Noble and returning board member Lorraine Price will be sworn in, and the board will elect its new officer positions — president, vice-president and secretary. Among other items on the agenda, the board will receive an updated presentation on both the district’s digital learning plan and legislative actions that may impact school budgets.
UPDATE ON MILAGRO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY
The school district’s Citizens Review Committee, a 10-member body of citizens that review capital outlay projects and make recommendations for construction projects to the school district, will give an update on both the new Milagro Middle School and plans for spending the recently voter-approved general obligation bond money at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 8. The meeting takes place at the district’s Educational Services Center at 610 Alta Vista St. and is open to the public.
COLLEGES CLOSE FOR SPRING BREAK MARCH 13
Most local and regional colleges, including the Santa Fe Community College, will close for spring break starting next Monday, March 13, for five days. Both KSFR’s radio station and the La Familia Dental Center on the campus of the community college will remain open during that week, but otherwise all college buildings, including the physical education building, will be closed. Check websites for individual colleges to confirm closing schedules.
Santa Fe Public Schools’ spring break begins the following week — Monday, March 20 — for five days.
STUDENTS TAKE PART IN DWI MARCH OF SORROW-MARCH OF HOPE
Local students are expected to take part in the annual DWI March of Sorrow-Marchof Hope from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the Roundhouse. The march is sponsored by the Santa Fe Prevention Alliance and Santa Fe Public Schools’ Student Wellness Action Team.

DUAL LANGUAGE PARENT NIGHT AT KEARNY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Kearny Elementary Elementary School, which has a dual-language program that gives students the chance to have lessons in both English and Spanish throughout the year, will host a Dual Language Parent night at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10.
The school’s bilingual team will offer an evening of activities that includes a Readers’ Theater (5:45 to 6:15 p.m.), a soccer tournament at 6:15 and a salsa competition at 7 p.m.
The school will have a potluck at the end of the evening, asking parents to bring a dish, labeled, representing a traditional dish from their country or home. The event is free and open to the community. The school is located at 901 Avenida de Las Campanas, not far off of Rodeo Road.
