NEW SPENDING
The Santa Fe city manager’s proposed $89.5 million general fund for the fiscal year beginning July 1 includes $3.1 million in expansion requests, including:
$1.1 million for wildfire prevention, firefighter cadet training and “permanent funding” for the Mobile Health Integrated Office, which offers preventive medical response services to 911 repeat callers
$300,000 for on-call street repair and maintenance
$200,000 to hire 14 seasonal workers to maintain parks and traffic medians
$284,700 for Tourism Santa Fe to reopen the La Bajada visitors center and invest in marketing with the Northern New Mexico Air Alliance, a public-private partnership to attract more visitor traffic through the municipal airport
$357,000 to hire three heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technicians to provide “preventive and proactive facility management”
$100,000 to hire a full-time Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator
$112,000 for a new position in the Office of Asset Development “to assist in generating more revenue through more aggressive sales and lease transactions”
$85,000 for the Office of Emergency Management to hire a specialist to help update or create new emergency response plans
