JULIO BENJAMIN SISNEROS 1941 - 2017

Julio Benjamin Sisneros, 76, passed into God’s loving arms on May 19, 2017 after an extended illness. Julio was preceded in death by his parents Eufelia and Julio Sisneros, his sisters Maria and Rosina and his brothers Johnny and Carlos. Julio is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Rosalie, his children Juno Sisneros, Diego Sisneros (Dorin), Julene Ponte (Kevin), Dominic Sisneros (Jessica), seven beloved grandchild­ren, his sisters Martha Rylee (Jim, deceased), Angie Mouret (John) and many beloved nephews, nieces and extended family.

Visitation­s will be held at Berardinel­li Family Funeral Home Wednesday May 24 at 4-5pm (1399 Luisa Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505 (505) 984-8600). Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm on Wednesday, May 24 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1301 Osage Ave. Funeral Mass will take place at 9:00am on Thursday, May 25 at St. John’s. Burial to follow at 11:15am at the National Cemetery.

Julio joined the US Navy soon after high school graduation and upon discharge worked in grocery until retirement making many friends along the way. He loved joking around and often introduced himself as Julio Iglesias which he did when once admitted to the hospital, causing confusion among the nurses and continued joking around even when he was ill. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family members.

BONNIE J. HICKS

Bonnie J. Hicks, age 42, a resident of Santa Fe, NM passed away on May 18, 2017. She was born on November 6, 1974 in Alamogordo, New Mexico to parents Bette Joy (B.J.) Shields and Thomas L. Shields.

Bonnie met the love of her life at the age of 13 and married Steven Hicks at 25. They had 3 beautiful girls, Kailea, Kayla, and Shania who were her world.

She is preceded in death by her father Thomas L. Shields, Grandparen­ts Gertrude and Thomas P. Shields, Grandparen­ts Elizabeth and W.O. Reynolds, Brother Thaddeus Shields and brother in law Jerry Hicks.

She is survived by her Husband Steven K. Hicks, Daughters Kailea Hicks (Eric Lury) Kayla Hicks, and Shania Hicks, her Grandson Alec, Mother B.J. Shields, Brother Kevin Shields, Nephew Kevin K. Shields, Mother and Father-in-law Rick and Geraldine Hicks, Brother-in-laws and Sister-in-laws Richard and Sha Hicks, Ray and Barbara Anchando, Michelle Hicks, and many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts and Uncles.

She spent her time working in her backyard gardening, entertaini­ng, and simply enjoyed being in her sanctuary. She worked at the New Mexico penitentia­ry as executive administra­tive assist for Behavioral Health, and absolutely loved her job, and everyone she worked with. She enjoyed cooking and made delicious feasts for everyone. She was a proud Mother of her girls, and took in another daughter, Caitlyn. She loved spending time with her girls, and taught them how to have a good time, but still get sh#% done. She taught her girls how to water ski, and had so much love for the lake. She also taught the girls to have love for others, work hard, and be strong.

A memorial service will be held at the Kiva Chapel of Light (Rivera Family Funeral Home, 417 East Rodeo Road) at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 25, 2017 with a reception to follow at the Elk’s Lodge. On Saturday, June 10, 2017, there will be a reception and spreading of her ashes in Alamogordo, N.M.

ESTHER A. DE HERRERA

Esther A. De Herrera, age 96, from Rowe, NM, has passed May 19, 2017. She was born in Palo Blanco to her parents Beatriz Vigil Armijo and Jose Isaac Armijo. She married Jose Enrique De Herrera on November 8, 1940 in Springer, NM.

She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse, all of siblings, 2 halfsister­s, daughters Beatrice and Annabella De Herrera, son Joe Henry De Herrera Jr., and grandson Carlos Baca. She is survived by her sons Benjamin, Ignacio (Laurie) and Francisco (Flora) De Herrera, daughters Henrietta (Mel Torrez) De Herrera, Irene Acosta (Jose), Roma Rivera (Leroy Martinez), Eliza De Herrera and Rosita Valdez (Richard), sisters Virginia Garcia (Gilbert), Julia Cordova (Emilio), Bertha Chavez (Leroy) and Cecelia Metz (Jim), 37 grandchild­ren, 120 great grandchild­ren, 14 great great grandchild­ren, numerous nephews, nieces and numerous best friends.

The pallbearer­s will be Rodney De Herrera, Nathan De Herrera, Lefonso Castillo Sr., Angelo Ortiz, Steven Archuleta, Henry De Herrera, Frankie De Herrera and Bernabel Valdez.

The honorary pallbearer­s will be her grandsons, great grandsons, and great great grandsons.

The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 7:00pm at St. Anthony’s Church in Pecos, NM. The mass will be the following day, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Anthony’s Church with a burial to follow at the Sagrada Familia Rowe, NM.

CHARLIE L. ORITZ

Charlie L. Ortiz, 71, of Albuquerqu­e born to Carlos and Ninfa Ortiz on June 5, 1945, passed away May 18, 2017. He is preceded in death by his father Carlos Ortiz. Charlie graduated from St. Mikes High School in Santa Fe N.M., he served in the Air Force. He retired from the NM State Highway department. Charlie in his spare time loved his guitar, played with numerous bands and with mariachi’s for many years. He is survived by his son Charles Ortiz (Rita), daughter Michelle Ortiz, 6 grandchild­ren, 1 great grandchild, his mother Ninfa Ortiz, brothers Dennis Ortiz (Gloria), Lester Ortiz, Deril Gonzales, sisters Belinda Armio, Annabelle Gonzales (Millie), Juanita Gonzales (Carlos), two nephews, five nieces, also, Dolores (Dee) Carrillo, Max and George Martinez, many relatives and friends. Charlie will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Charlie will be put to rest on May 23, 2017 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe N.M. at 11:00. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
