On October 30, 2017, with love surrounding her, just after sunrise, and 25 days short of birthday number 101, Lucia M. Roybal returned to the embrace of her Creator. Preceding her in death: parents Adolfo and Elaiza Montoya; husband Stan; son Arturo; sisters Margaret Caperton, Rose Olivas (Fred), Adelina Montano (Benny); brothers PFC Lucas Montoya, Rubel Montoya and Arturo Montoya; in-laws Procopio and Tonita Roybal, Ruth Baker, Mary Roybal, Pablo Roybal (Ruby), I.M. Roybal (Margaret), Paul Trujillo, and Libby Roybal. She is survived by her children John Michael Roybal (Anita) of El Valle de Arroyo Seco, Theresa (Tisa) Roybal of Santa Fe, Gloria R. Cala (Chuck) of Albuquerque; grandchildren Estevan Padilla (Angelica), Jessica Padilla, Christopher Michael Roybal, Kristin Roybal (Bryan Nelson), Lauren Cala Edwards (Isaac), Lucas Cala; great grandchildren Tatiana, Kailao, and Alexander Padilla and Nico Gonzalez; sister Virginia Archuleta (Ruben); brothers and sisters-in-law Bill Caperton, Lydia Trujillo, Rosina Montoya, Remmy Roybal, Ben Roybal (Clorinda), and Procopio (Jake) Roybal Jr.(Orlinda); and numerous nieces and nephews. In her last years, Lucia needed assistance in her home and the family wishes to acknowledge and thank her caregivers Josefina Ramirez, Veronica Arreola, and Mely Fierro for their kind and loving attention and care.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 7th at the Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Catholic Church in Nambe located 2 miles east of Highway 84/285 on NM 503. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by a Rosary at 9:30, with the funeral mass at 10:00 AM. Reception will follow at the Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe del Valle de Pojoaque Parish Hall in Pojoaque. Internment will occur at 2:15 PM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family of Lucia M.
