The thoroughbred racing season comes to a close with The Classic, which culminates two days of racing and wraps up the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Limited to 14 entrants, the race features horses 3-years-old or older at Del Mar track, just north of San Diego, Calf. Arrogate, who also won the Travers in 2016, is the defending champion as well as a contender in this race.
6 p.m. on HALL Movie: Christmas Festival of Ice
When Emma Parker (Taylor Cole) returns to her home town to join her mother’s law practice, she’s crushed to discover that an annual ice-sculpting competition that had been a holiday tradition for Emma and her father is being canceled due to lack of funding in this new 2017 Christmas movie.
6 p.m. on LIFE Movie: The Lost Wife of Robert Durst
This new 2017 fact-based crime drama stars Katharine McPhee, pictured, (Scorpion) as Kathie Durst, the largely forgotten first wife of real-estate heir Robert Durst (Daniel Gillies, pictured, The Originals). In 1971, Kathie, a dental hygienist, is swept off her feet by Durst’s eccentric charm. When Kathie vanishes in 1982, her family and friends are dismayed that police don’t seem willing to take her disappearance very seriously. John Glover also stars.
