Unemployed couple with newborn, full house seeks help
A woman who has three children, including a newborn, as well as two stepchildren, says she and her fiancé are both unemployed and struggling financially.
She was on maternity leave after having the baby this summer, but her employer eliminated her job. She says her fiancé was let go from his job at the end of October.
Christmas prospects are bleak, and they family is seeking help with rent.
They are among hundreds of people seeking help this season through the Empty Stocking Fund.
The Empty Stocking Fund is a project of The Santa Fe New Mexican. The Santa Fe Community Foundation, Los Alamos National Bank, The Salvation Army, Presbyterian Medical Services and The Life Link donate services to jointly administer the Empty Stocking Fund.
The newspaper will run stories featuring requests for assistance from local residents. The information from the initial application will be verified if the applicant is selected for assistance.

If you donate online in honor of a friend or loved one, a custom e-card can be sent from the Empty Stocking Fund to let them know about your contribution, courtesy of the Santa Fe Community Foundation and InSight Foto.
The final total of applicants to the Empty Stocking Fund, less those who are not qualified, totaled 537 this year. The application process has closed.
