The future is Kate Noble

- Katrina Mendoza is a freelance artist and community cultivator living in Santa Fe.

My wife and I moved to Santa Fe because we wanted to make a difference as community builders, and we were quickly successful, thanks to Kate Noble. She’s been doing the work to develop the economy for Santa Fe, and this short story is a humble slice of our experience working with Kate. Her mentorship and leadership are as inspirational as they are modest, and if you’re on the fence about the future of Santa Fe, then you don’t know Kate.

When we launched Downstream Media Maven, we were applying for my wife’s permanent residency while realizing it takes time to get to know Santa Fe. Business felt slow, yet we were bursting with ambition to make a difference as digital organizing artists running a marketing and video production company. In all of our hustling, our passion and purpose led us to Kate Noble because she’s the kind of woman who loves her hometown so much that she spends her free time planning professional networking events, while mentoring local entrepreneurs, and offering guidance to develop affordable housing for the people of Santa Fe (among many other admirable collaborative projects and initiatives). She’s an edgy woman who’s as sharp as a tack, and will make time for anyone who is interested in shaping Santa Fe into a stronger community.

We quickly came to know Kate as a voice of reason and experience who always speaks from a perspective that is diverse and inclusive. She’ll often shed light on blind spots, share impactful insights and resources, and offer a “hell yeah!” to your day. Not long after meeting Kate, we were discussing a project, and she said, “We just want them to do better.” This was the moment we realized that Kate Noble expects the best of all things.

Every time we speak with Kate, we can feel the passion she feels for improving something — anything — about someone else’s experience. Most of the changes and programs that Kate champions and implements are addressing issues that don’t directly affect her. That’s how we know that she truly is passionate to see her hometown and all the people living in it thrive. That’s how we know that she’s not just talking up “change” and “progress” — she’s actually doing something about it. And she didn’t need to be a mayoral candidate to give a damn. She’s been doing it for more than a decade.

The last year working with Kate has inspired us to plug into our local government and take on a new responsibility for how we feel about Santa Fe. Kate has been working to improve Santa Fe, on many levels, for many years now. That’s why we respect her as an individual, as a woman and as a professional. That’s why we know she will do everything in her power for as long as she can to make things better for everyone. That’s the person we want to have the power to create and implement policy, because we trust her to make the right decisions and follow through. Grab a coffee with Kate and you’ll feel it, too.

Kate Noble is a voice of experience, intelligence and wisdom. Both a doer and a decision-maker with a determination to help all the people of Santa Fe. We hope you will join us in supporting Kate for mayor, and remember to #ShapeYourCity by speaking your truth for the vibrancy of Santa Fe.
