Ex-homeless man: Thanks for support

-

A man whose family was homeless until the Empty Stocking Fund helped them move into an efficiency apartment wrote a message of appreciation that read in part:

“We’ve been busy most of the day bringing in small furniture and things we need. We’re completely starting over. We’re so happy! We were both under a lot of stress while we were homeless. Now it’s like a 100 pound weight is taken off my shoulders.

“We still have a lot to do. Find work! We need a bed. I’m going to ask the Salvation Army for a furniture voucher. We’re sleeping on the floor, yet that’s a lot better than sleeping in the car, or an expensive motel we couldn’t afford. It all worked out perfect, almost as if God knew we needed a place to call home.

“I had a double hernia three months ago. The surgery and time to recover was a factor in us becoming homeless. I’m going to stay busy every day. Because what I do today will make a difference tomorrow! Thank you again for helping us! We are very grateful! If you ever need help let me know. I’m seeking part-time employment.

“Thank you! Good luck and God bless you and the Empty Stocking Fund!”
