PUBLIC SCHOOL CLOSURES

Monday, Feb. 19, is President’s Day, and Santa Fe Public Schools’ facilities will be closed for this federal holiday. However, not all schools or colleges are closed on this day, so please check individual school and college websites for a list of closures.

Santa Fe Public Schools also will close its facilities on Tuesday, March 6 — the date of the mayoral election for Santa Fe. Again, that does not mean other school facilities are closed that day, so please check individual school websites for closure schedules.

TUTORING FOR TUTORS

Reading Quest and the Interfaith Coalition for Public Education will host a workshop to train tutors how to teach reading. The workshop is for tutors and educators with students who are behind and are reading at a kindergart­en to thirdgrade reading level. The workshop also is open to adults who want to learn how to teach reading. The workshop is free and is Education news and events scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 4. CHARTER SCHOOL TO HOST OPEN HOUSE

Turquoise Trail Charter School, located at 13 San Marcos Loop off N.M. 14, hosts an open house for prospectiv­e students and parents at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. Staff members and educators will be on hand to answer questions, and there will be free food and door prizes. The deadline for entering a student’s name into the school’s lottery is Friday, Feb. 16, and the school will hold its lottery drawing at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21. Call the school at 505-986-4000 for more informatio­n. The school serves about 500 students from pre-K to sixth grade.

SCHOOL BOARD TO HOLD STUDY SESSION

Santa Fe Public Schools’ Board of Education hosts a study session at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the district’s Educationa­l Services Center, 610 Alta Vista St. The agenda includes a number of action items finalizing some policies and a presentati­on on developing a strategy plan to help students with math. TEEN JOB FAIR

Teens interested in summer job opportunit­ies and understand­ing more about how to put together a résumé or fill out a job applicatio­n can attend a teen job fair being held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the Southside Branch Library, 6599 Jaguar Drive.
