From the Santa Fe New Mexican: May 6, 1918: Potato Show Will Be On At Museum Wednesday, Thursday.
The big Potato Show will be held Wednesday and Thursday of this week in the Museum. Mrs. Walter Danburg, state food administration chairman of the woman’s committee of national defense announced today. Mrs. L.N. Hanna will be in charge. All Santa Fe women are urged to bring in samples of their best potato cooking accompanied by the recipe.
May 6, 1968: ESPANOLA — Rio Arriba County Sheriff Benny Naranjo today officially requested that the Federal Bureau of Investigation enter the Eulogio Salazar murder case.
Salazar was found beaten to death near Tierra Amarilla Jan. 3.
He was a jailer at the Rio Arriba County Jail and was to have been a key witness in the forthcoming trial of Reies Tijerina and 10 of his followers on charges of kidnapping in connection with the raid on the Tierra Amarilla courthouse last June.
May 6, 1993: A push for the city to condemn Sangre de Cristo Water Co., including a prime developable land it owns along Upper Canyon road, appeared Wednesday to be gaining momentum among members of the Santa Fe City Council.
At least four councilors say they feel condemnation of the water company is a viable alternative to submitting a competitive bid, especially in light of the Public Service Company of New Mexico’s intention to sell valuable assets of its subsidiary apart from the water system.
