Celebrity families ‘Feud’ for host Steve Harvey again

-

As a sizable chunk of his television career suggests, Steve Harvey is happy to participate in fun and games.

In addition to hosting his Emmywinning syndicated weekday talk show “Steve,” NBC’s “Little Big Shots” and Fox programs such as “Showtime at the Apollo” and the Miss Universe competition, the comedian-actor-author is wedded to the “Family Feud” franchise. Besides the daily syndicated version on which everyday folks guess what a survey says, Harvey also presides over ABC’s “Celebrity Family Feud,” starting its fourth season as the network’s “Sunday Fun & Games” returns June 10.

“I don’t know that anything services me better than ‘Family Feud’ and ‘Celebrity Family Feud,’ because it’s all improv,” Harvey reflects. “I’ve been doing stand-up a long time, and one of my strong suits is that I’ve always been able to make something funny, with or without (prepared) material. Those two shows allow me to showcase my gift in its purest form.”

The same night “Celebrity Family Feud” returns, ABC’s revivals of “The $100,000 Pyramid” (with host Michael Strahan) and “To Tell the Truth” (led by Anthony Anderson) also start new seasons ... and the following week, “Match Game” and “The Gong Show” will

be back, too. Personalities playing the “Feud” this time include stars of “Grey’s Anatomy” and its spinoff “Station 19,” Ice T, Vivica A. Fox, Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott, baseball and basketball veterans, and Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian West.

“The vast majority of the people who come on this show, I already know,” Harvey notes of the “Celebrity” edition. “On (the daily) ‘Family Feud,’ they’re invested in the game differently. They’re trying to win $20,000, but these celebrities are playing for charity. Even if they lose, they still get $25,000 to give ... but they’re very competitive. They want to win because maybe their families are big fans of the show.”
