‘Miz & Mrs.’ ready to become Mom and Dad in new USA series

-

Mike “The Miz” Mizanin and his fellow WWE performer wife Maryse thought they had a handle on everything as they prepared for the birth of their first child.

The classes? The doctors visits? Piece of cake. The lack of sleep? We’re ready for it. Mike being nearby in case Maryse went into labor? Yep, we have a plan.

But what really threw them was the photo shoot Maryse agreed to do while nine months pregnant that entailed what is known as implied nudity.

“I’m still trying to process the implied nude photo shoot,” Maryse says. “If I tell you you are doing a photo shoot and saying it’s implied, are you going to show up completely naked?”

“You’re not going to show up completely naked, No. 1,” Mike adds. “No. 2, who knows what an implied nude photo shoot is? Nobody. Implied nudity – and all I heard is ‘nude’ so I was out there.”

“And I am French Canadian,” Maryse says, laughing, “and I know what the word ‘implied’ means, so there you go.”

The photo shoot and all the other adventures and misadventures the Mizanins endured before, during and after the March 27 arrival of daughter Monroe Sky are part and parcel of the half-hour unscripted series “Miz & Mrs.” Premiering Tuesday, July 24, on USA Network, the six-episode program follows the WWE power couple’s lives as they adapt to becoming first-time parents while juggling the demands of a performing schedule with their already busy lives, which included a move from Los Angeles to Austin, Texas.

And that relocation, admits Maryse, was ill-advised.

“Two weeks after giving birth,” she says, “we moved from L.A. to Austin. It’s probably the worst timing and I would not recommend that to anyone, moving to a different state with a two-week-old. We did that also in a tour bus with me, Mike, Monroe, my mother, our two cats, our two dogs. We had 24 hours to make it to Austin because Mike had to be back on the road. You know, we think we have everything under control but we don’t, and it really sucked for us to go through this. It really did. ... Now we watch it back and we’re laughing.”
