Crack open a cold one and re­sign your­self to get­ting a lump in your throat as you watch the fi­nale of the 12th and fi­nal sea­son of this bound­lessly en­ter­tain­ing travel se­ries with An­thony Bour­dain, the beloved host who died last June. The episode, “Lower East Side,” finds “Tony” tak­ing a per­sonal jour­ney through what once was a bo­hemian New York neigh­bor­hood, shar­ing meals and con­ver­sa­tion with singer-song­writ­ers Richard Hell and Deb­o­rah Harry, and gui­tarist Chris Stein, the co-founder of Blondie.


Loosely based on a 1988 novel by Wil­liam Brink­ley, this ac­tion-drama se­ries opened just af­ter a global pan­demic wiped out more than 80 per­cent of the world pop­u­la­tion, leav­ing the crew of the USS Nathan James to strug­gle with a long se­ries of chal­lenges as its commanders and crew sought to re­store and main­tain world or­der. That mis­sion cli­maxes tonight af­ter five sea­sons with the se­ries fi­nale “Com­mit­ment,” in which Adm. Tom Chan­dler (Eric Dane) con­fronts the great­est threat he ever has faced.

Ju­lia Davis — who also cre­ated the orig­i­nal Bri­tish ver­sion of the cur­rent HBO com­edy “Camp­ing” — cre­ated, wrote, di­rected and ex­ec­u­tive pro­duced ev­ery episode in Sea­son 1 of this Brit­com, wherein she also has a fea­tured act­ing role. Cather­ine Shep­herd (“Peep Show”) stars as mar­ket­ing ex­ec­u­tive Sally, whose en­gage­ment to bor­ing boyfriend David (Alex McQueen) is com­pli­cated when she meets the daz­zling Emma (Davis), with whom she be­gins a same-sex af­fair. Soon, how­ever, she dis­cov­ers Emma is a com­plete night­mare.
