SFPS EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY NOTE
Ballots and voting instructions for renewal of Santa Fe Public Schools’ Education Technology Note, a property tax measure that raises revenues for classroom technology and support as well as take-home laptops for students, were mailed to all eligible voters Tuesday.
Forty-five percent of the technology note funding would be spent on student devices like laptops and tablets, other classroom technology like Smart Boards or digital projectors and the transformation of computer labs away from rows of desktops, and toward more collaborative spaces.
Seventeen percent would go to education and professional development software.
Thirteen percent would be spent on digital learning coaches, who help students and teachers build tech skills.
Twenty-five percent of the fund is earmarked for network and wireless systems, cybersecurity, student privacy measures and information technology support staff.
Ballots are due back at the Santa Fe County Clerk’s Office by 7 p.m. March 5.
To ensure your vote is counted, school officials recommend mailing ballots by Feb. 28.
Ballots can also be hand-delivered to the Santa Fe County Clerk’s Office, 102 Grant Ave.
