SANTA FE CC, NORTH­ERN N.M. COL­LEGE JOIN TO OF­FER JOB TRAIN­ING

Santa Fe Com­mu­nity Col­lege will col­lab­o­rate with North­ern New Mex­ico Col­lege to of­fer the New Mex­ico En­vi­ron­men­tal Work­force Job Train­ing Pro­gram.

The five-week in­ten­sive train­ing will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon­day through Fri­day from May 20 through June 21 at NNMC in Es­pañola. Train­ing costs for un­em­ployed, un­der­em­ployed or low-in­come ap­pli­cants who are ac­cepted into the pro­gram will be cov­ered by an En­vi­ron­men­tal Pro­tec­tion Agency grant.

Pro­gram grad­u­ates will re­ceive fed­eral and state rec­og­nized cer­ti­fi­ca­tions such as hazardous waste and emer­gency re­sponse, CPR and first aid, and fork lift op­er­a­tor.

Veter­ans are en­cour­aged to ap­ply. Space is lim­ited, and ap­pli­cants are ac­cepted on a first-come, first-served ba­sis.

Par­tic­i­pants who suc­cess­fully com­plete the pro­gram are el­i­gi­ble for job place­ment as­sis­tance. Most en­try-level po­si­tions of­fer ben­e­fits with an av­er­age start­ing wage be­tween $12 and $16 per hour.
