And the Grammy goes to ... Santa Fe Opera
Santa Fe Opera’s The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs won the Grammy Award for “Best Opera Recording” on Sunday.
Performances of the opera, which had its world premiere in Santa Fe in 2017, were recorded live for an album released last year on the Pentatone label.
The recording of the electro-acoustic work of composer Mason Bates with librettist Mark Campbell was also nominated in two other categories
The award also recognized conductor Michael Christie, album producer Elizabeth Ostrow and principal soloists Sasha Cooke, Jessica E. Jones, Edward Parks, Garrett Sorenson and Wei Wu.
The work was a Santa Fe Opera co-commission with the Seattle Opera and the San Francisco Opera, which co-produced the opera with the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where it was performed in September.
