Venezuelan people have no friend in Trump

Donald Trump’s economic warfare being waged against the Venezuelan people is killing the poorest of the poor by creating critical shortages of food, power and medicine. The U.S. media is downplaying or simply ignoring how sanctions are strangling the Venezuelan economy. While internal errors are partly responsible, few countries could survive an economic siege that bans the sale of exports, seizes overseas assets, blocks international credit and manipulates the exchange rate. A U.N. representative on a recent visit to the country suggested that the International Criminal Court investigate illegal U.S. sanctions against Venezuela as possible crimes against humanity. It is war propaganda for the U.S. media to entirely fault government officials for the crisis and portray Trump as a friend of the Venezuelan people. Sam Hitt
