Monte boys pull away from Desert Academy/Santa Fe Waldorf
Monte del Sol’s boys basketball team has picked a great time to get hot.
Behind double-figure scoring from four players, the Dragons (15-8 overall, 5-0 in District 2-2A) extended their winning streak to eight games and further solidified their résumé for an at-large bid to the upcoming state tournament.
Monte del Sol used a dominant fourth quarter pull away from Desert Academy/Santa Fe Waldorf on Monday night, ending the game on a 22-6 run en route to a 81-55 victory. Peter Lujan led the way with 34 points for the Dragons while Santi Archuleta had 16, Alec Lopez 15 and Isaiah Salazar 10. Lopez drained five 3-pointers.
Liam Otero had a team-high 26 for Desert Academy/Waldorf. Cameron Motola added 14.
“Tonight Peter not only had a career high but also a career game with a double-double,” said Monte del Sol head coach Alfredo Lujan.
Desert Academy fell to 3-14 overall, 0-4 in the district.
