Nine S.F. groups receive arts grants
The National Endowment for the Arts is awarding grants to nine Santa Fe organizations to support arts programs, including $80,000 to the Santa Fe Opera, New Mexico’s U.S. senators announced Wednesday.
The opera grant will help fund the presentation of this summer’s world premiere of The Thirteenth Child by composer Poul Ruders and librettists Becky and David Starobin, the announcement said.
Other Santa Fe grant recipients include:
$40,000 to the Santa Fe Art Institute to support the Truth & Reconciliation Thematic Residency Program.
$35,000 to support the 47th Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival.
$25,000 to the Center for Contemporary Arts of Santa Fe to support NKAME, a solo exhibition and associated educational programs dedicated to the work of Cuban visual artist Belkis Ayó.
$20,000 to Parallel Studios Inc. to support free and low-cost community engagement programs during the 2019 Currents New Media Festival, featuring works from artists, creative technologists, programmers and multimedia performers dedicated to fostering appreciation for contemporary media.
$20,000 to the National Dance Institute of New Mexico to support a preprofessional dance program.
$20,000 to CENTER to support Review Santa Fe, a photographic festival, conference and multivenue exhibition series.
$15,000 to the Santa Fe Desert Chorale to support a choral music performance project.
$10,000 to support the Indigenous Solutions Healing Festival.
A half-dozen Albuquerque projects also will receive a share of the $380,000 in grant money awarded to New Mexico arts programs.
