Isabel Romero Tafoya, 95, La Cieneguilla and Santa Fe, March 15 Martha Lucille Romero, 72, Ribera, March 14 Robert D. “Flax” Lujan David E. Archuleta

Isabel Romero Tafoya (95), A lifetime resident of La Cieneguilla and Santa Fe, Isabel "Nana" Tafoya peacefully entered eternal life at home surrounded by five generations of family.

Isabel is survived by daughters Agnes Romero (Mino), Helen Carr (Rick), and Dolores "Doe Doe" Pacheco (Mark), sons Chris (Carol), Anthony (Terri), Louis (Shari), and sister-in-law Elsie Miller, grandchildren Annette, Alisha (Jon), Gilbert (Ana), Cheryl, Melanie (Luis), Adam, Allen (Jolene), Robert, Leah (Tai), Marissa, Richard, Tamara, Tyler, Sarah, Landon, Greg (Luanna) and Julie (Joey). Great and great-great grandchildren include Brooke, Zia, Eliza, Andrew (Candice), Isaias, Jeremiah, Myla, Denajah, Chase, Miquella, Avelina, Julina, Mylina, Xavier, Josiah, Daniel, Mialma, Isabel, Santiago, Aytianna, Kevin, Mariah, Jaydon, Michael, and Mark.

A strong woman of faith, Isabel lived a long independent life filled with countless farm activities at her La Cieneguilla and Las Nutrias ranches highlighted by world travels and east coast visits with her Romero nieces and nephews. Her most memorable times however were hanging out with her family at her Jemez Road home. At home she enjoyed crafting, painting, music, Joel Osteen, and especially watching Dr. Phil.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ignacio Tafoya, parents Epifanio and Carlota Romero, sisters Sister Carlotta, Nellie Lopez (Toribio), Mary Baca (Felix), brothers Robert Romero (Esther), Albert Romero (Clara), Teofilo Romero, and numerous in-laws.

Always in her thoughts were the Romero, Tafoya, Martinez, Miller, Baca, Lopez, Montes, and Garcia families. She wanted to acknowledge the kindness of the many family, friends, neighbors and clergy who visited and helped her throughout her life. Very special to her were all her nieces and nephews, friends Priscilla, Marylou, and Maria Elena.

Please join the family on Friday, March 22 for a rosary at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at San Isidro Church Center with Father Pretto officiating. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the San Isidro Parish Fund in memory of Isabel Romero Tafoya.
