Police arrest father in infant’s death

ALBUQUERQUE — Albuquerque police have arrested a man on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death after he claimed his child drowned in a pool.

Officer Simon Drobik said late Tuesday that the man was taken into custody after he was questioned by investigators. Drobik said the man told authorities he was playing with the 9-month-old girl when he accidentally dropped her and she fell into the pool.

Paramedics weren’t able to resuscitate the infant.
