Kenan Thompson is bringing a lot of funny to various shows

-

Q: I’m seeing Kenan Thompson as a panelist on a new show called “Bring the Funny,” but I thought he was supposed to have his own show. Is that not happening now? – Julie Smith, via e-mail

A: Yes, it still is ... which, also combined with his scheduled return to the regular cast of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” makes Thompson one busy fellow these days. “The Kenan Show,” slated for a midseason debut on NBC, will cast him as a suddenly single parent trying to balance his relationships with his two young daughters and his father-inlaw (Andy Garcia). Chris Rock will be an executive producer and a director on the series.

Q: Was it just me, or did John Stamos start crying when he talked about his son on “A Capitol Fourth”? – Mike Travis, Buffalo, N.Y.

A: It was not just you. Those who have seen the “Full House” veteran speak about his child in his television appearances over the past year – including his 2018 hosting stint for PBS on “A Capitol Fourth” as well – are used to seeing him get emotional about the subject, and it may have to do with his waiting until later in life to become a parent for the first time. In any event, it’s clearly and understandably a topic close to his heart, and his visible tears over it are all but certain to continue.
