Best of Show Ceremony and Luncheon

11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Santa Fe Community Convention Center 201 W. Marcy St. This exclusive, members-only event, sponsored by the Institute of American Indian Arts, brings together awardwinni­ng artists and the Indian Market community to celebrate this year’s best work. The event begins with the awards presentati­on and is followed by a celebrator­y luncheon for the Best of Show and Best of Classifica­tion winners. Award sponsors attend, as well as those who want a first look at all the award-winning pieces. The event includes a preview of IM: EDGE Contempora­ry Show. Ticketed event: $150. 98th Annual Santa Fe Indian Market on the Plaza 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Santa Fe Plaza and adjacent streets The 98th Santa Fe Indian Market transforms the city, with nearly 1,000 of the continent’s finest Native American artists showing their work in booths filling the Plaza and surroundin­g streets. Indian Market is the largest Native American fine art show in the nation. Free and open to the public.

CHILDREN’S TENT In Cathedral Park, sponsored by Native Hope. Yoga for kids at 8 a.m.; making storytelli­ng rocks, beading, coloring and other crafts all day.

IM:Edge 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Santa Fe Community Convention Center main lobby 201 W. Marcy St. IM: Edge is a curated, contempora­ry gallery-type show and sale, sponsored by JoAnn and Bob Balzer with additional support from the Native Arts and Cultures

Foundation. This exhibition features visual artists who are pushing the boundaries of their art forms and exploring issues related to the strength and resilience of Native women. Free and open to the public.

Book Signing 1-2 p.m. SWAIA Merchandis­e Booth on the Plaza Spoken Through Clay Native Pottery of the Southwest: The Eric Dobkin Collection, book signing by author Charles S. King and artist Tammy Garcia (Santa Clara Pueblo). This gorgeous, oversize book features 300 contempora­ry and historical ceramic artworks.

Gala and Auctions 6 p.m. Santa Fe Community Convention Center 201 W. Marcy St. This year the event will be an allencompa­ssing experience, with the theme “Rise and Remember: Honoring the Resilience of Native Women.” Congresswo­man Deb Haaland (Laguna) of New Mexico’s first congressio­nal district is the guest of honor. U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo (Muscogee/Cherokee) will read her poetry, and ShanDien “Sonwai” LaRance (Hopi/Tewa/Assiniboin­e) will hoop dance. Included in the auction are drums hand-decorated by Haaland, Harjo and other notable Native women. A portion of the proceeds from drum sales go to the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women in Albuquerqu­e. Ticketed event:
