Ex-Rio Arriba sheriff gone rogue has done enough time, Ringside Seat, Jan. 26
“Having represented plaintiffs in federal civil rights litigation involving police misconduct for over 40 years, I am glad to see this article. What Tommy Rodella was accused and convicted of was wrong. No question. Yet, it seems obvious this was an egregious case of selective prosecution by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. As the article states, there are incidents involving excessive force allegations that are far, far more serious than what Tommy Rodella was convicted of. Shootings, beatings, convictions based on fabricated evidence — and virtually none are prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Why this one?” Richard Rosenstock
“Not feeling sorry for Rodella. The others should have received harsher penalties, rather than them all getting off the hook or receiving a slap on the wrist.” Leesa Vigil
“You’re so wrong! This cop used a gun to threaten a citizen after a road incident and then tried have him convicted of false charges. This should be the standard punishment, or more.”
Wingate Paine
“Those other crooked cops belong in federal prison, too. I certainly don’t feel bad for the former sheriff. Something we never hear about is that the officers are supposed to pay back the state for the settlement of civil suits caused by their actions. I have been to a settlement hearing and have seen the agreement the state present where the officer is obligated to pay back the settlement. I just wonder who is keeping track and how the payments are made?” Deelores Flausy
