Will the ‘Homeland’ fires keep burning?

- BY JAY BOBBIN

Q: I know it’s the final season of “Homeland,” but has any thought been given to continuing it in another form, like a movie? – Kim Russell, via e-mail

A: At a January gathering of television critics, executive producer Alex Gansa said that was “certainly a possibility,” but not in the immediate future. He cited last year’s “Downton Abbey” film as a possible model for doing such a film ... and added his principal partner in producing the Showtime drama, Howard Gordon, “Never say never. That’s as much as you are going to get.”

Co-star Mandy Patinkin, who also was at that session, then mused about doing “Homeland: The Musical” in the future. “There’s a lot of dance numbers,” he noted.

Q: I’ve enjoyed Rachel Brosnahan on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” but wasn’t she also on “House of Cards”? – Kate Lane, Grand Junction, Colo.

A: She was, among many other pre-“Mrs. Maisel” acting jobs she had. During the first three seasons of Netflix’s Americanized version of the show, she played Rachel Posner, a prostitute who was trying to better her lot in life ... but as with many who entered the sphere of the Underwoods (Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright), her future was less bright and less lengthy than she had hoped.

Brosnahan also starred in the series “Manhattan” and appeared on such other series as “Orange Is the New Black” and “The Blacklist” before she really made a name for herself (and won an Emmy Award) in “Mrs. Maisel.”
