Four bladesmiths are in for a handson challenge when they are tasked with forging pry bar knives in the opening of “Russian Special Forces Spetsnaz.” Given a variety of tools to make their blades, the smiths must figure out the right tool for the job. After a grueling round of testing, two smiths return home to forge a pair of Spetsnaz shovels, famously wielded by Russian Special Forces. The winner claims a check for $10,000.
8 p.m. on FOOD Save the Leftovers
A jackpot of $10,000 is on the line as two professional chefs go head to head to see which can do a better job of rescuing leftovers they find in actual home refrigerators and transform them into a restaurant-quality meal in this new one-hour special (that looks a lot like a potential series pilot). Antonia Lofaso serves as host, and she’s joined by guest judge Jake Smollett to determine the winner of the Golden Fridge award, plus the aforementioned cash.

Season 4 of this historical crime drama opens on Jan. 1, 1985, where Ronald Reagan has won reelection to the presidency. Yet while this president declares that it’s “morning again in America,” the demand for crack cocaine on the streets of South Central Los Angeles remains higher than ever. Franklin Saint (Damson Idris, pictured) and his dealers are reaping the benefits of this rise in drug addiction, but the Los Angeles Police Department is diverting unprecedented money and resources to Washington’s new “war on drugs.” Another episode follows.
