A film character actor named Carroll O’Connor carved his name permanently into television history in this iconic and much-decorated 1971-79 CBS sitcom in which he stars as Archie Bunker, a Queens, N.Y., blue collar worker whose bigoted views of the world clash sharply with those of his liberal son-in-law Mike (Rob Reiner).
